DEC PRISM - PRISM, for Parallel Reduced Instruction Set Machine, was a 32-bit RISC CPU design from Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). It was the final outcome of a number of DEC-internal research projects from the 1982-85 time-frame, and was at the point of delivering silicon in 1988 when management cancelled the project.
Jupiter project - The Jupiter project was to be a successor to Digital Equipment Corporation(DEC)'s PDP-10 model. This project was cancelled in 1983, as the PDP-10 was increasingly eclipsed by the VAX supermini machines (descendants of the PDP-11).
Trygve Fossum - Trygve Fossum is a Norwegian computer architect at Intel, having been transferred there from DEC's Alpha project where he was one of the chief architects/designers (before that he worked on the VAX 9000). At Intel he has worked with the Itanium 64-bit processor design.
PDP-10 - The PDP-10 was a computer manufactured by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) from the late 1960s on; the name stands for "Programmed Data Processor model 10". It was the machine that made time-sharing common; it looms large in hacker folklore because of its adoption in the 1970s by many university computing facilities and research labs, the most notable of which were MIT's AI Lab and Project MAC, Stanford's SAIL, and Carnegie Mellon University.
