European Association of Distance Teaching Universities - The European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU) is the representative organisation of both the European open and distance learning universities and of the national consortia of higher education institutions active in the field of distance education and e-learning. Therefore it is the main voice of the community for open and distance higher education and e-learning in Europe.
Special education - Special education (also known as special ed, SPED or defectology) refers euphemistically to the teaching of students with academic, behaviorial, or health/physical needs that cannot be met in the general education program. This article will focus mainly on the teaching of students with disabilities; see Gifted education for more information on that subject.
Death education - Death education is education about death that focuses on the human and emotional aspects of death. Though it may include teaching on the biological aspects of death, teaching about coping with grief is a primary focus.
Alternative education - Alternative education (also known as nontraditional education) describes a number of approaches to the teaching of children other than standard schools, such as alternative schools and homeschooling. Educational alternatives are often rooted in various philosophies about life and learning that are fundamentally different from those of mainstream education.
College of Education - Prepares graduate and undergraduate students for careers in teaching, research, service and policymaking. Eleven doctoral, three educational specialists, and 12 master's degree programs are offered through the four departments that comprise the College of Education. At the undergraduate level, students prepare for careers in teaching elementary and secondary school, including special education.
Physical Education, School of - An academic department within the Faculty of Education. The mission is to teach, to research and to provide service in the area of physically active living in order to advance knowledge and to prepare professionals in teaching, kinesiology, recreation and health education. Undergraduate and graduate programs, and research laboratory.
