Simple random sample - In statistics, a simple random sample from a population is a sample chosen randomly, so that each possible sample has the same probability of being chosen. One consequence is that each member of the population has the same probability of being chosen as any other.
Sample mass - The sample mass relates to the weight of a sample. For example if there is 100 grams of Copper (II) Sulfate, its sample mass is 100g.
Sample space - In probability theory, the sample space, often denoted S, Ω or U (for "universe"), of an experiment or random trial is the set of all possible outcomes. For example, if the experiment is tossing a coin, the sample space is the set {head, tail}.
Sample-based synthesis - Sample-based synthesis is a form of audio synthesis that can be similar in structure to either subtractive synthesis or additive synthesis. The principal difference with sample-based synthesis is that the seed waveforms are sampled sounds or instruments instead of fundamental waveforms such as the saw waves of subtractive synthesis or the sine waves of additive synthesis.
