Temporal bone - The temporal bones (os temporales) are situated at the sides and base of the skull. Each consists of five parts: the squama, the petrous, mastoid, and tympanic parts, and the styloid process.
Lambdoid suture - The lambdoid suture (sutura lambdoidea) is a dense, fibrous connective tissue joint that separates the parietal and temporal bones of the skull from the occipital bone. Its name comes from the lambda-like shape this suture makes on the back of the skull.
