Viscose - Viscose is a viscous organic liquid used to make rayon and cellophane. Cellulose from wood or cotton fibres is treated with sodium hydroxide, then mixed with carbon disulfide to form cellulose xanthate, which is dissolved in more sodium hydroxide.
Cellophane - Cellophane is a thin, transparent sheet made of processed cellulose. Cellulose fibres from wood or cotton are dissolved in alkali to make a solution called viscose, which is then extruded through a slit into an acid bath to reconvert the viscose into cellulose.
South Pacific Viscose - Indonesia. Manufacturers of viscose staple fiber for yarn spinning and nonwovens production. History of viscose fiber production. Animation of viscose process. English, Indonesian and Chinese.
Viscose rayon - Extensive article about the history and development, technical properties and applications of rayon viscose. From Swicofil AG.
